Kcrolim Star-Gazer’s Vigil was first raised on the black cliffs of Ith Varel, where the sea reflected the heavens so perfectly that sailors claimed the stars had a second kingdom below the waves. Kcrolim, last astronomer-priest of the old observatory, kept watch there through thirteen winters after the skies began to change. He charted lights that moved against the firmament, recorded moons that should not have existed, and warned that something beyond the night had turned its gaze upon the world

When the others fled, Kcrolim remained at his post, lighting the beacon each dusk and sounding the bronze chimes at dawn, not to summon aid, but to measure whether time itself still obeyed the turning of the heavens. On the final night, witnesses in distant villages saw the tower burning with pale blue fire while every star above it vanished. By morning, the observatory was empty. Only his final inscription remained, carved into the lens-stone: “So long as one eye watches the dark, the dark cannot yet close its hand.” Since then, scholars and pilgrims call any lonely watch against impossible odds Star-Gazer’s Vigil
